CARTERET, NJ – South Plainfield Lady Tigers Holly DeLair, Caroline Ratti and Makayla Sosa all homered, and the Tigers banged out 20 hits from nine different players as the Tigers went on the road to beat Carteret 19-1. Sosa’s homerun was particularly special as it came on the first pitch of her first varsity at bat for the Tigers.
The Lady Tigers posted what looked like a week’s worth of stats in one game with DeLair knocking in four runs, Sosa knocking in three runs, leadoff hitter Caity Hughes scoring four times and Gina Tartza going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and three runs scored.
“The girls really played awesome today, said South Plainfield Head Coach Donald Panzarella. “It was a great team effort with hits from nine different players.”
The Lady Tigers’ Katherine Vill picked up the win going five innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. The Lady Tigers improve their record to 3-0 on the season while Carteret drops to 0-2.
