Letter to the Editor:

The South Plainfield Business Association hosted their 6th annual "Taste of South Plainfield", on Monday, March 13, 2017.  One year ago the Business Association decided that the South Plainfield businesses,  that have served the residents of South Plainfield for 30 years and more, should be honored at the "Taste", to continue the 90th Birthday Celebration for the Borough of South Plainfield.  The "Taste Committee" asked Mayor Anesh, as an honor to him, to present the Proclamations to these businesses.  The committee began to compile businesses that they researched that have served this community for 30 years or more.

The Business Association honored the following businesses:  Cindy Michaels Jewelers - over 30 years; Paul's Stationery - 32 years;  HK Trucking - 35 years;  Salerno's Ristorante - 35 years;  Pinto Bros. - 40 years;  Presto Printing - 37 years;  Mohn's Flowers and Fancy Foods - 40 years;  Twin City Pharmacy & Surgical - over 40 years; Liftec Inc. - 40 years;  Sportsworld - 40 years;  McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals - 41 years; Carousel Hair Salon - 43 years;  Giakas Dry Cleaners - over 50 years;   Halls Warehouse Corp. - over 50 years;  JT Penyak Roofing Company - over 50 years;  Peter Pan Pharmacy - over 50 years;  R & C Auto Body - over 50 years; Tony's Pizza and Restaurant - over 50 years;  Frank P. Licato Agency - 60 years;  Eckhardt Family South Plainfield Sheet Metal, Heating and Air Conditioning - 60 years;  Coppolas Garden Center - 90 years;  Harris Structural Steel Company - over 106 years;  Nitschwitz & Company - over 120 years.  The South Plainfield Business Association was very proud to acknowledge these South Plainfield Businesses, who also continually give back to our students and community through donations to many fundraising events.  South Plainfield Borough Council President Derryck White bestowed Borough Seal Pins to all the acknowledged businesses.  Mohn's Flowers donated all the live flower centerpieces for our tables.

The South Plainfield Food Businesses who attended with samples of their food products, which  allows residents to "taste" their products and bring business into their establishments were:  Ciccio's Pizza - Maple Ave.:  Hometown Heros - Hamilton Blvd.; Mr. Subs; - South Plainfield Ave.;  Sherban's Restaurant - Front Street;  LaBonbonnier Bake Shoppe - Hadley Road;  Rodolfo's Pizzeria and Restaurant; - Sampton Ave.;  Imperial Deli - Park Ave.; Little Nicky's Italian Hot Dogs - South Plainfield Ave.;  Marie's Sweet Designs - South Plainfield Ave.;  In and Out Bagels - Plainfield Avenue;  Kenny's Empanadas - Belmont Ave.; Nanking Restaurant - Stelton Rd - near Kohl's;  and WineCountry of South Plainfield for their variety of Wines and Craft Beer vendors.  Please visit these South Plainfield Food Establishments who are supporters of South Plainfield through donations to our student fundraisers.
