Dear Editor

The family of the late Robert Vedutis, longtime resident of South Plainfield, who passed away during the 111 Florence Place fire on May 26, 2016, would like to extend their appreciation to all who helped and for all the support given during their time of loss.

A special thank you to first responders; Brian Zielinski, Joe Abbruzzesse, John Reed, Mike Pellegrino and an unknown New Market firefighter who heroically rescued Robert’s daughter, Donna Vedutis from the basement window of the home.

Immediately following this tragedy, the family witnessed the South Plainfield community rally together with donations for Donna, who not only suffered the loss of her father, but also her belongings due to fire and water damage.  Donations in the form of clothes, food and financial contributions were generously provided to Donna during this difficult time.  A special thank you to the South Plainfield Elks Lodge #2298 for their generous donation, as well as to all those who graciously donated to the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department.

A special acknowledgement to Robert’s neighbors Jim and Kathy Nilla, who not only alerted first responders to Donna’s whereabouts during the fire, but also collected donations from neighbors in their Geary Park community.

Our appreciation to all Robert’s extended family, friends and neighbors who attended and supported the family prior, during and after the funeral and helped to make it memorable.

As it will be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this press acknowledgement as a token of our heartfelt appreciation.
