Dear EditorNational Anthem“And the rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air”....a peaceful introduction? Hardly. “Our flag “was still there” In its fourth verse It is alleged that it also contains racism, elitism and sexism. Apparently the anthem was written to proclaim that Old Glory was still flying. These expressions while dynamic and stirring are not exclamations of peace. Should we consider changing our national anthem with something with less historical problematic history? Some have suggested America The BeautifulAs a child I was taught to sing and respect it. As an adult I fought for it and it is habitual and traditional. It was our national anthem throughout while America was and is the greatest nation in the world.. It teaches us not to hoist a white flag.Do we stay with the old or go with the new? Think about itJoe Vella
