On the evening of August 2nd South Plainfield celebrated National Night Out in honor of our Police, Fire, Rescue Squad and OEM. The purpose of the event is to bring awareness amongst residents and those departments. To say the evening was a huge success is an understatement. The committee of Chief Jim Parker, Councilman Ray Rusnak, Board of Ed President Debbie Boyle and I were overwhelmed with the turnout and cooperation of both residents and sponsors alike. Based on the amount of food consumed and giveaways handed out, we guessed that there must of been at least 1,000 people that attended that evening. All free of charge. Special thanks goes out to Kevin Bulla for allowing us to utilize his grill for night.
I would like to thank the corporate sponsors of Unity Bank, McDonalds, Target, Paraco Gas, SkyZone, and Sukadia for all their generosity and support. Alison Gibson donated all the Sparkle Tattoos. The car club Car Nutz added a special touch to the festivities and the South Plainfield Public Library was a tremendous asset as well. The "Sea of Blue" ribbon campaign is ongoing and you can continue to show your support by displaying one of the ribbons.
A special Thank You goes to you the residents for attending, and all the men and women in uniform who serve our community day in and day out. We hope you all had a fun and enjoyable evening.
