A big congratulations to the South Plainfield High School Class of 2020.
The graduating class of 2020 and their families have faced many obstacles during important signature milestones. Many of you were introduced to the world in the same year our country was turned upside down by the events of 9/11. Now this year that marks your transition into adulthood, again comes with chaos and challenges unprecedented in most of our lifetimes. Through all this, the Class of 2020 proved to society, that with hard work and determination you can accomplish anything. Your class managed separations to keep loved ones safe, learned to face challenges independently, and mastered virtual learning within record time. The grit and ingenuity you have shown since March, is evidence that we are promoting a class of leaders that the world needs.
Covid-19 took a lot away and changed the way you had to say good- bye. No last high fives, prom pictures, or yearbooks full of signatures. But 2020 did give you something. You will never take for granted how special it is to be able to come together. You will always have the unforgettable experience of our community rallying together to serve and care for one another, while creating special memories, such as video graduations, Tiger Roars, and drive by salutes. The heroism, compassion and willingness to serve you have witnessed this year, will stay with you the rest of your lives.
There are so many different paths you can take from here. Some of you will enter the United States military, some will head out into the work force, travel, or start college careers. But whatever path you chose, we have faith that each of you will go forward into this world and make a difference. May you take care of each other while finding happiness and success along the way!
