To the Editor-

As a candidate for re-election to the Board of Education, I am asking for the support of the voters on November 3.

Over the past six years I have served on many committees of the board, and helped our district through what can easily be described as  some of the most challenging years in education.

The board has supported the introduction of new classes, stepped up the maintenance and major projects needed at our facilities, and increased the technology capabilities through the schools.

Our primary goal right now  is to hire a permanent superintendent.  The process is currently moving forward and as a member of the superintendent search committee, I believe we will have a strong slate of applicants available to find an experienced chief school administrator that will help our students with encouragement, resources, and opportunities.  This individual will guide our district - hiring staff for the vacant positions, implementing innovative curriculum and taking the overall lead in finding solutions to the challenges we have now and will have in the future.

As a non-conflicted board member, I can fully participate in the superintendent's selection and evaluation, as well as the negotiations for the staff collective bargaining agreements.  With salaries and benefits making up approximately 75% of the annual budget, I will work to attain quality results through efficiency, monitoring, and accountability in all areas of the budget.

Our students deserve and expect the best, and I hope to have the opportunity to take part in the future of student achievement in South Plainfield.

If you were unable to be at the Meet The Candidates night this year, please take the time to watch the video.  If you would like more information, please visit my website http://billseess.wix.com/2015boe.  Look for my name on Line 2, and I ask for your support.

Sincerely,

Bill Seesselberg

Candidate for Board of Education
