RARITAN TWP., NJ – The parking lot at the Dutch Country Farmer’s Market here is usually quiet on Mondays, because the anchor store is typically only open Thursday through Saturday.

But it’s a beehive of activity today, as law enforcement is using it as a staging area in its search for a missing 12-year-old girl.

Late this morning, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office put out a call for the public’s help in finding Swetha A. Fernando. She has brown eyes, black hair, weighs 110 pounds and is 5 feet tall.  She was last seen at 4:30 this morning at her Raritan Township home.

On the scene this afternoon as part of the search are Raritan Township police, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office SWAT Team,  and K-9 units from the state Department of Corrections.

Hunterdon Prosecutor's Office Acting Deputy Chief of Detectives Paul Approvato said they set up here to focus a search near where the missing girl lives, but said they have no solid lead on her whereabouts. The SWAT Team is routinely activated to assist with missing persons searches, Approvato said.

Anyone with information on Swetha’s whereabouts is urged to contact Raritan Township police at 908-782-8889.
