Yesterday on my way home from work I saw a ground hog running near Putnam park. I guess winter is just about over? Punxsutawney Phil was right. There were at least six more weeks of winter. Anyway, I like everyone I talk to, am happy the winter of 2014 is coming to a close. With young children at home, the first few storms are exciting, but after a while the snow, cold, shoveling and 4:30am wake-up calls begin to wear on everyone, including me!
I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the performance of the Department of Public Works this winter. South Plainfield’s DPW Department never wavered, and our snow removal efforts were second to none. Also, our pothole repair efforts went into action as snow was ending. Although some roads still need more work, the cold patch that has been put down has held strong in the interim.
Spring is finally here. The Borough is ramped up for our “Pickups on Demand.” Every home in the Borough has the option of having two debris pickups a year. Just call Carmela in Public Works at 908-755-2187 and make your appointment. Also, our compactor opens the first Saturday in April for those do- it-yourselfers that want to use the compactor.
As for me, my wife Kim already has the Anesh family spring cleaning schedule set. My boys and I will be busy the next few Saturdays doing our own spring cleaning. Maybe winter is ending too soon after all? Remember if there is ever a need always know you can call me, your Mayor, at 908-226-7601.
Mayor Anesh started his political career as an elected Councilman in 2005 and 2009. He was elected in 2010 as Mayor. Matt has lived in South Plainfield all his life. He attended Sacred Heart School, South Plainfield High School and graduated in 1995 from the College of New Jersey with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. He is a Vice President with a Fortune 100 Financial Services Company in New York City. Matt is a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the SP Elks and Unico. He is married to Kimberly Anesh and has 16 year old twin boys, Harrison and Joseph. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and ice hockey.
