SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – At the Council meeting on June 19th, Mayor Matthew P. Anesh declared the week of June 19th through June 25th as “Amateur Radio Week” and asked all residents to extend their appreciation and respect to our amateur radio operators.
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) will be conducting its annual Field Day Exercise which will take place on June 24th and June 25th in Spring Lake Park. The field day is a 24 hour emergency preparedness exercise and demonstration of the radio amateurs’ skills and readiness to provide self-supporting communications without further infrastructure being required.
The schedule for Field Day will be as follows:
10 AM – 2 PM Set up Operations Ctr. (Tents, Equipment, Antennas, Power, etc.
2 PM – Midnight Operations
2:30 PM Press & Photo Opportunities
Midnight – 2 PM Operations
2 PM – 4 PM Secure Area
The South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club invited all residents and amateur radio operators, to stop by during the field exercise. "We appreciate the recognition given to the radio amateurs who offer our time and expertise to the community," said President Marvin Bronstein. Steve Ostrove,K2SO, the American Radio Relay League Section Manager was also on had to receive the proclamation. "It is a honor to be here and to have the recognition for the amateur radio club members," said Ostrove. "Whatever we can do the for community is what we want to do."
