The Middlesex County School Boards Team and New Jersey State School Board’s Legislation Advocate Christopher Jones met with Senator Diegnan on April 8, 2019;  to discuss a fair school funding formula for all school districts, extrodinary Special Education Funding and IDEA funding, teachers and staff health benefits and pension funding and underfunded mandates set by the State of New Jersey and the Federal Government.   Senator Patrick Diegnan requested that a report be prepared by Christopher Jones NJSBA and the Middlesex County team with figures on the amount for special education student transportation, cost for out of district placements that he could present to congress with regards to the amount of funds that impacts the school districts along with the school funding formula concerns.   Senator Diegnan also discussed the mandated silent panic alarms signed into law by Governor Murphy and the cost that would be reimbursed.  Senator Diegnan has always offered his time to meet with many school district teams and we greatly appreciated his time.  L to R;  Middlesex County School Board’s President Debbie Boyle - South Plainfield Board of Education;  Lucy Bloom Representative to the Board of Director for NJSBA - Sayreville Board of Education; Christopher Jones, NJSBA Legislative Advocate - Trenton; Sharon Miller MCSBA Vice President/Secretary - South Plainfield Board of Education; Senator Patrick Diegnan and Elliott Stroul , Vice President Legislation - Jamesburg Board of Education.
