NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Families, friends and loved-ones were present to celebrate the eighth annual National Adoption Day in Middlesex County, during an event that included proceedings to finalize the adoptions of eight children at the County Courthouse in New Brunswick.

The morning began with a ceremony recognizing the special importance of National Adoption Day, with remarks from the Honorable Travis L. Francis, Assignment Judge of Middlesex County Superior Court; the Honorable Deborah J. Venezia, Presiding Judge of the Family Division of Middlesex County Superior Court; Lisa Von Pier, Assistant Commissioner of the NJ Department of Children and Families, Child Protection and Permanency Agency, and New Brunswick Police Det. Michael Coppola.

"We're pleased to celebrate our eighth National Adoption Day here in Middlesex County and congratulate all of the families who participated in the day's events," said Middlesex County Surrogate Kevin Hoagland. "I'd like to thank Judge Francis, Judge Venezia and the Middlesex County Bar Foundation for their support in recognizing such a wonderful occasion as this."

Gifts for the adopted children and their families were donated by employees from the Family Division Courts.  A continental breakfast also was served for the families and guests.
