SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Good weather has not resulted in smooth driving for motorists as South Plainfield has had its third major accident today. Just before 9:00pm a van plowed into a utility pole on Oak Tree Avenue between Joan Street and Case Drive. Emergency crews raced to the scene and closed Oak Tree Avenue in both directions.

Officials have not said what caused the accident and the extent of any injuries. This evenings’ accident follows accidents earlier today on New Market Avenue and on Grant Avenue. Oak Tree Ave is closed with traffic being diverted down May Avenue.
