SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Quick thinking neighbors were able to break in and rescue a Harrison Avenue woman after observing fire coming out of a bedroom window late last evening. According to South Plainfield Fire officials fire units were dispatched to the 500 block area of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:15pm on a report of a house fire. When fire units arrived at the scene they found the occupant of the home laying on the front lawn. The resident apparently had been rescued by neighbors who were able to gain entry to the home and remove the resident.

The woman is reported to have suffered a number of burns. Fire and EMS units tended to the victim and transported her to Saint Barnabus Medical Center in Livingston. Her condition has not yet been released by officials.

South Plainfield Fire units were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined according to South Plainfield Fire Chief Thomas Scalera.
