South Plainfield Middle School held a premiere party for the new movie “Wonder” based on the book by author R.J. Palacio. The book and movie promote both kindness and inclusion. The event was a reward for both the 7th and 8th grade teams that collected the most reported random acts of kindness. The program is part of a kindness initiative run by Library Media Specialist, Christine Brandenburg, and Student Assistance Counselor, Joretta Strayhorn. Throughout the month of October students at South Plainfield Middle School were asked to make an effort to be extra kind to each other and to document acts of kindness. English Language Arts Teachers, Kristin Bennett and Erin Farrell, accompanied their winning classes to the Info Center. Both Bennett and Farrell helped out with the “premiere party” which included snacks, music, book trivia, prizes and movie trailers.
