SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – South Plainfield Fire responded to a house fire early Monday morning on the 2300 block of Oxford Avenue. Units arrived with the home fully engulfed around 4:15am. According to South Plainfield Fire Chief Thomas Scalera there were no injuries in the fire.

“The house was vacant and under renovations at the time of the fire,” said Scalera. “Roughly 30 volunteer fire fighters from the South Plainfield Fire Department responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire.”

Damage to the single story home was extensive with windows and doors being boarded up late this afternoon. According to Scalera the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
