SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The latest winter storm began dumping snow on South Plainfield a little past midnight.  The storm is expected to dump between 6-12 inches of snow in South Plainfield.  The snow is forecasted to switch over to sleet and eventually all rain by this afternoon, but will go back over to snow this evening and end sometime early Friday morning.

South Plainfield Schools and municipal offices are closed for the day.  New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has declared a State of Emergency.  Businesses and other government offices through the State are closed.  All three area airports are reporting delays.

The school closings have caused the South Plainfield Board of Education to modify the remaining school calendar for the second time this month.  All South Plainfield Public Schools will now be open this Monday February 17, 2014.  Additionally, the Board of Education has added April 21, 2014 as a school day.  The new school calendar can be found at www.spboe.org.
