SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – South Plainfield High School’s DECA (Distributive Education Club of America) and Tennis Organizations will host the school’s first Tint Sprint 5K & Wellness Fair on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The event, which is expected to attract a crowd of over 500-plus from throughout Middlesex County, is designed to bring the community together for a day of family, friends, fun and fitness. Proceeds will support the tennis team with new uniforms and equipment and help DECA, an association of marketing students who pair creativity with innovation in regional, state and international competitions, offset the costs to participate in various regional, state, and international conferences during the 2015-2016 school year.

The Tint Sprint 5K & Wellness Fair will take place at the South Plainfield High School fields and begin with a children’s ‘Fun Run’ (ages 5-11) at 9:30 a.m. (registration starts at 9 a.m.). Registration for the Tint Sprint 5K begins at 9:45 a.m. with the event, open to ages 12 and up, beginning at 11 a.m. All participants of the 5K must wear sneakers and a white T-shirt to participate. Whether walking, running, or crawling, the purpose of the Tint Sprint is not to race, but to simply finish in one piece, and covered in various colors.

Upon completion of the Tint Sprint, all partakers will receive a “2015 Finisher’s T-Shirt” and are invited to celebrate their achievements by attending our Wellness Fair (Finisher’s Festival). Beginning at 11:30 a.m., the fair will be held on the school fields feature a basket auction and a variety of vendors including local community organizations, restaurants and businesses, clubs and organizations as well as special appearances from medical professionals offering demonstrations, snacks, mini-workshops, and healthy living tips.

According to event organizers and South Plainfield High School teachers Kayla Bryant, who also serves as DECA advisor, and Dana Curcio, who also serves as tennis coach, the Tint Sprint & Wellness Fair is a great way to spend the day socializing with friends and learning about various ways to stay fit.

“The event has something for everyone,” said Bryant. “Participants will get a chance to not only challenge themselves physically by running the race, but also meet with local medical professionals about ways to keep healthy.”

Registration for the Tint Sprint is $25 per person (ages 12+)/$20 for South Plainfield High School students and the cost of the Fun Run (ages 5-10) $10 per child. After Sept. 16, the cost for the 5K will increase to $35 and the cost of the Fun Run will increase to $15. Registration by Sept. 24 is required; there will be no day-of registration.

In addition to participants, support, in the form of monetary donations, sponsorships and vendors, is needed. Monetary donations can be made in the amount of your choice at www.active.com/donate/tintsprint with Bronze Level ($25), Silver Level ($50), Gold Level ($75), and Platinum Level ($100) sponsorships available. Additionally, businesses, families and organizations looking to financially support the event can also purchase T-Shirt logo space. For $35 your logo or family name will be listed on the back of the official Tint Sprint & Wellness Fair T-shirts; shirts are complimentary for all race participants and will be sold to the general public.

Vendors are also needed for the Wellness Fair as are prizes and favors. For those looking to be a vendor, the cost is $35 and includes a 6-foot table and one chair per organization/business. The Wellness Fair requires a 10:30 set up and a 3:30 p.m. (at the earliest) breakdown. No electricity will be provided. Donations, such as gift certificates, race bibs, snacks and sports drinks, are also needed as are products that will be included in ‘Tint Sprint’ participant bags or auctioned off at the Wellness Fair.

“The Tint Sprint is the first big fundraiser for both of these organizations and we would love the support of the community,” said Curcio. “It's a great cause and great way to come together, eat and shop, all while improving the quality of our lives.”
