SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Park Avenue Dental, run by Dr. Minni Sharma, DMD, and her team of highly-trained dental professionals, boasts the latest technology, an experienced and courteous staff, and a warm and welcoming environment. Located on Oak Tree Avenue in South Plainfield, the family dental practice prides itself on providing customized services in general, cosmetic and implant dentistry.

Our goal is to provide optimal dental care for each patient, whether it is relieving pain to help them eat or fixing a problem to improve their smile,” said Dr. Sharma, who herself has 25 years of experience. “What works for one person may not for another. Here, everything is customized so that we can help our patients feel better and more confident.”

Park Avenue Dental is a 2,900-square-foot, five-chair practices that offers a variety of cosmetic and restorative services onsite, including white fillings, cosmetic bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges and implants as well as ZOOM! whitening and Invisalign braces. “At Park Avenue Dental, we are always striving to be on top of the latest technology and advances in dental care,” Dr. Sharma said.

Additionally, Park Avenue Dental specializes in preventive services, including but not limited to, routine exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants along with oral cancer screenings, treatment of gum disease, and root canal therapy.

The South Plainfield practice also includes Dr. Sharma’s brother Dr. Ashok Vaid, DDS, who is on site Saturdays; Dr. Ira Eisenstein, DMD, a periodontist‎ on site once a month for consultations; and a team of three registered dental hygienists, Terry, Eddie and Danielle.

“Here, we all have one common goal and that is to help our patients with their dental needs and issues so that, down the road, their visits are for routine cleanings and checkups,” said Dr. Sharma, “We all work together to provide total care.”

Located in a converted ranch-style home just down the road from the South Plainfield Post Office, Park Avenue Dental has a open, warm and welcoming feel throughout. The waiting area features plush couches and a fireplace along with a wide selection of magazines, a flat screen television and complimentary coffee while the examine rooms are open and bright, with large windows.

“We are a high tech dental practice in a relaxed, open, sunny and warm setting that doesn't feel like a closed in dental office. It has a very homey feel,” said Dr. Sharma, adding that offering patients a relaxed and confortable setting sets Park Avenue Dental apart. “This environment really helps patients relax and enjoy their visit.”

Dr. Sharma grew up in Old Bridge and went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology from the University of Rochester. Knowing she always wanted to work in a health-related field, Dr. Sharma said it was a summer job as a dental assistant at her own dentist’s office that led to her career choice. “I loved it and knew this is what I wanted to do,” she said, adding, “I love that I can help someone and, step-by-step, provide them with total dental care.

Dr. Sharma went on to earn her DMD from Tufts University of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and continued her professional training at the Eastman Dental Center, a prestigious post-doctoral program affiliated with the University of Rochester Medical Center. For seven years, she worked as an associate for area group practices and, in 1999, opened her own practice in Edison. She operated out of an office on Park Avenue – hence the name of the practice– for 15 years and, in 2014, relocated the practice to its current site on Oak Tree Avenue.

“I love being here and involved in smaller community where a lot of people and business owners know one another. In a short time, I’ve gotten to know so many other community members. I really like the small town feel of South Plainfield,” said Dr. Sharma, adding that she is looking forward to being more active and involved in the community, including participating in the next Mayor’s Wellness Committee Health Fair.

“I am really looking forward to taking part and being involved in the community in a bigger way,” she said.

In addition to running a private dental practice, Dr. Sharma also teaches at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in Newark and is on staff at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She is also an active member with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the American Dental Association (ADA), the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA), and the Middlesex County Dental Society. Additionally, Dr. Sharma has completed the Advanced Esthetics Program at the NYU College of Dentistry and is an Invisalign Certified Provider.

Dr. Vaid, a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, continued his training at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, completing their hospital-based General Practice Residency. He was commissioned as a Dental Officer in the US Army Reserve in 2001 and completed his service in 2009. Dr. Vaid has pursued his Continuing Education Training at the NYU College of Dentistry, completing the program in Advanced Esthetics in 2007 and the Implant Dentistry: Surgical and Prosthetics program in 2011. Dr. Vaid, who operates his own practice in Cranbury and is on staff at Park Avenue Dental every Saturday, is also a trained Tip-Edge orthodontic provider. Additionally, he maintains a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists
