PISCATAWAY, NJ – A Piscataway police officer is out of a job after pleading guilty to charges that he struck a suspect who was in custody in a patrol car, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

Todd Ritter, 54, of Millstone struck the suspect while on official duty and then entered inaccurate information into police records to conceal his actions, said Carey in a Tuesday news release.

Ritter has been charged with tampering or falsifying records in the fourth degree and simple assault, a disorderly persons offense and sentenced to probation under a plea agreement, said Carey.
