POW/MIA Vigil to take Place in Metuchen Memorial Park

METUCHEN, NJ - There will be a POW/MIA Vigil on September 16th and 17th at the Metuchen Memorial Park located on Essex Avenue in Metuchen, NJ.  The vigil will continue for 24 straight hours. The vigil will start at 12 noon on Friday, September 16th. There will be an hourly candle lighting in remembrance of those that are still unaccounted for.

All veterans who served on active duty at any time during the period of Nov.1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location will also be honored. The vigil is to thank and honor the United States military veterans who served during the Vietnam War, in partnership with The United States of America Vietnam War 50th Commemoration.

If you know of anyone who has not received their Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin, please have them come and be honored publicly at any time during the vigil.

This event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Central Jersey Chapter 233.  The VVA is asking for residents to help spread the word about the vigil to remember these brave warriors who never came home.

Cultural Arts Line Dancing Event

The South Plainfield Borough Cultural Arts Commission hosted their annual line dancing event on October 28, 2017 at the South Plainfield Senior Center.   The “Silver Spurs” were the host of the line dancing event.   There were 40 people in attendance.   Line dancing is a great event because you can attend as a single person and enjoy all the modes of line dancing.
