SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Fire Department received an $18,000 check this past Friday from South Plainfield’s newest hotel Woodsprings Extended Stay Hotel. The proceeds of the check are to be used for the purchase and installation of remote site repeater system.

South Plainfield Fire Marshal Joe Abbruzzese, Fire Commissioner Joseph Wolak and Council President Derryck White, along with Lieutenant Andrew Kolenski were all on hand to accept the donation from Redcom Design & Construction and DC Hospitality LLC. Woodsprings Extended Stay Hotel located at 2991 Hamilton Boulevard is a four story hotel located right off Route 287. Mrs Florencia Lopez-Fontela and her daughter Alexandra represented both businesses and presented the check to the fire department.

The system that will be installed will be located on the fourth floor of the new hotel and will be connected into the existing radio system utilized by the fire department for daily operations. The new equipment will expand the coverage areas of the present radio system. Mrs Lopez-Fontela is an architect and the Assistant Project Manager for Redcom. She has worked closely with the Office of the Fire Marshal/BFP on the project and is also a resident of South Plainfield. On behalf of Chief Thomas Scalera, the men and woman of South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department, the Mayor and Council and the people of South Plainfield, we extend our sincerest thanks for your contribution to allow this endeavor to move forward and welcome you to South Plainfield.
