SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Riley Grammar School Principal, Leo Whalen, and the PTO hosted the annual Grandparents Day on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. The Kindergarten students performed songs to a packed house. Tunes included: "Love Somebody," "You are Special," "The Little Red Box," and "Happy Valentine's Day." Poems included were "Grandma's Glasses" and "I Made a Valentine." The First Grade performed: "Bonjour Mes Amis," "Love is the Magic Word," "Grandparent's Day," "Skinnamarink," "Climb My Family Tree,” "I'll Care for You." Following, the Second Grade performed: "Mail Myself to You,” "Love Grows," "A song for Grandparents' Day," and "You've got a Friend in Me.” They, too, presented poems: "Grandparent's Hugs are Made for Love," "Grandparents Have Special Talents,” and "It's Grandparent's Day.”
Lucy Valentin was the winner of the 50/50 and donated back half of her winnings ($250.00) towards the playground equipment. The PTO will put the other $500.00 towards the Riley School Playground Equipment. In attendance were: South Plainfield Superintendent Tom Gialanella, Board of Education President Debbie Boyle and Board of Education Vice President Kimberly Anesh.
