SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – KC’s Korner was rockin’ Sunday afternoon as several hundred people came out for the ‘Rock for a Ride’ event, a fundraiser to benefit six-year-old South Plainfield resident Brianna Feeney, who has Pallister Killian Syndrome.

Attendees hung out in KC’s newly—renovated outdoor dining area and enjoyed performances from country rock band Wolf Creek followed by Motley Crue tribute band Sixx Seconds to Mars. Inside the bar area was packed with people celebrating Bri’s event with pints in their fists and NFL Sunday in their eyes. Besides the incredible music and football, the September 20th event also featured a silent auction, 50/50, and face painting. The goal of “Rock for a Ride” was to help the Feeney Family and their need to purchase a handicap accessible vehicle.

“This was just a great day,” said grilling aficionados Charlie Hoppe and Jerry Tanzola while KC’s Cheri Tanzola noted, “Everyone was out for a great cause, having some fun and a few laughs.”

Denise Hoppe added, “Isn’t the day just great? Perfect weather, music, and food. When Charlie and Jerry try dancing you know it’s a good day.”

South Plainfield resident Kristine Carbonaro, who lent a hand at the fundraiser selling 50/50s, added, “’Rock for a Ride’ was an amazing event. I can’t wait to see Bri cruising around in the comforts of her new handicap accessible minivan.” Carbonaro said that when she asked her friend Paul Fessock of Sixx Seconds to Mars to play at the event “he just ran with it.”

Fessock, who is also owner of the Summit-based World of Rock and host of children’s television show Mr. Socks’ World of Rock, came up with the idea of "Rock for a Ride.’ "South Plainfield is where I'm from and I'm proud of all the people who stepped up and came out on Sunday to support Bri and her family,” said Fessock. “I believe we raised some good money for some great people!” Fessock is thankful to Wolf Creek and his band mates in my members of Sixx Seconds to Mars for coming out to play and also extended thanks to Scott Festa, who provided sound for both bands.

“It’s great to be involved in such a wonderful community that is always willing to give back,” said KC’s Korner owner Walter Kurilew. “Myself, along with the entire staff at KC’s Korner, were excited to help support Brianna and her family in any way we can.”

Brianna’s mother Patricia Feeney was extremely appreciative of all those who came out to help her family. “It was an incredible day!  Brianna had so much fun rocking side to side in her wheelchair to the beat of the music with a big smile on her face surrounded by so many wonderful people,” said Feeney.  “The outpouring of love and support from our neighbors has been amazing.  I am so grateful to everyone for helping us!"

The next fundraiser is planned for Dec. 18 in conjunction with the South Plainfield Elks Lodge 2298 and Mike Marino – New Jersey’s Bad Boy of Comedy.

Prayers the Devil Answers by Sharyn McCrumb (Altria, 2015)

Years later, after the tragedy, someone remembered the Dumb Supper and what had happened there. That was the cause of it, they said, because the ritual wasn't a game after all. It really was magic, but magic has rules, and she broke them. Even when they call it a 'senseless tragedy,' people always try to find a ...
