SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – There was only one real contested election in South Plainfield this past Tuesday. It was not on the Borough Council. Both party slates ran unopposed. The real action was at Roosevelt school where students voted to name the red tailed hawk that has been buzzing the school playground the past two weeks.

The winning name was Ruby. Ruby defeated Rosie 170-162 or 51.2% to 48.8%. There were no recounts and Ruby won the straight-up popular vote. So far there have been no allegations of Russian hacking in the election. According to school officials, Ruby sightings have continued throughout the week.
