SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – There is nothing quite so exciting as celebrating a 100th birthday as did Betty Majerski on Wednesday, September 21st. A huge birthday party was held in her honor at the South Plainfield Senior Center with delicious cakes, gifts, flowers, and a card signed by all of her friends at the Center. Everyone there wishes good health and joy as Betty enters her second 100 years.
The Seniors have been celebrating quite a bit as the summer of 2016 draws to a reluctant close. On Friday, September 16 the members of the Center were treated to ten games of Bingo, an ever popular activity, by G & W Labs of South Plainfield. Larry Munchink of G & W was on-hand to oversee the excitement as the guests waited for the next number to be called.
Tree Olano, Director of the South Plainfield Senior Center, stated, “I love getting surrounding businesses involved with our Seniors. The company personnel find it rewarding and our Seniors love to share their stories and experiences with their new friends.”
On Monday, September 19 the Seniors got to enjoy a long anticipated event to mark the end of summer. After a delicious lunch, prepared by the County Nutrition Program, ice cream sundaes were dished out to over 70 guests by volunteers Grace McGinnis and Carol Thieme. Rousing entertainment was provided by the dynamic duo of Joel and Francine, newcomers to the Center, who provided a program entitled, “Destination Las Vegas.” The entertainers regaled the Seniors with music, jokes, and trivia, in a performance lasting over an hour.
The South Plainfield Senior Center, located at 90 Maple Avenue in the township, is always ready to welcome new members. There are ongoing educational programs as well as social events that keep the beloved Senior Citizens of South Plainfield active and involved in fulfilling and stimulating ways.
