SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - A “spooktacular” event was held at the South Plainfield Senior Center on Friday, October 27. More than 125 seniors joined in the Halloween fun, many wearing colorful and creative costumes. A costume contest was the highlight of the day's festivities. Following a parade of garbed guests, Vi Burrell and Margie Price won Best Costumes for their portrayals of the Phantom of the Opera and his prize student, Christine. Art Osterburg, who scared everyone with his Dracula costume, won best Male Costume and Pat DiGiacomo, who dressed as Jackie Lantern took home the prize for Best Female Costume.

A tasty “mocktail” dubbed the “Orange witches brew” complemented the meal which consisted of chicken cordon blue, mashed potatoes, garden salad, rolls, and iced tea. Care Bear cookies in Halloween shapes were a big hit and assorted pies and pastries rounded out the holiday fare.

D.J. Mel, garbed as Superman, led the seniors on the dance floor, playing Halloween hits and getting the guests on their feet.

Halloween is always a popular feast, but for those who are thinking ahead, make reservations now for the Thanksgiving dinner, to be held on Wednesday, November 22 at the Center. Suggested donation for the dinner is $5. Call 908-754-1047 now to save a place for turkey and fixings.
