SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Shane McCoid, a 2012 South Plainfield High School graduate, joined the ranks of South Plainfield’s finest as McCoid was sworn in by Mayor Anesh in front of family, friends and future colleagues.
McCoid, a lifelong resident, has been a volunteer of the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department since 2008. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. after graduating high school in 2012, and was honorably discharged in 2016. McCoid received numerous citations and medals while a member of the Marines.
“We have the finest police department in the State of New Jersey and this Country,” said South Plainfield Mayor Anesh. “I can say without any hesitation this governing body is behind you 100% as you start your career and we wish you all the best in having a warm, safe and fulfilling career.”
“Shane, to you and your family I’d like to say congratulations,” said Council President White. “Thank you to the family for sharing Shane with the community he grew up in, the town he was educated in and the Country he has served.”
South Plainfield Mayor Anesh announced a brief recess after the swearing-in ceremony so McCoid, his family, and members of the South Plainfield Police Department and Fire Department could formally congratulate South Plainfield’s newest officer.
