SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -Shannon Fonti was diagnosed with Hurthle Cell Thyroid Cancer in March of 2008 at the age of 11. She had her thyroid removed during two separate surgeries at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in March 2008. In June 2013, cancer was found in her femur and back and Shannon was given radioactive iodine treatments in June and for many months after, as well as visits with scores of doctors. Shannon’s FACE (Fight Against Cancer Everyday) Team will be participating in the Four Seasons Parkway Run & Walk on Sunday, September 28th in Philadelphia at Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Shannon will be one of the 10 ambassadors selected this year, and she takes this honor very seriously. Shannon is asking for support for her team. The money raised will continue research and survivorship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
