WOODBRIDGE, NJ- In a feat accomplished by no other SPPPA 10U team in association history, the South Plainfield White 10U Traveling team carried home a 1st place tournament trophy for the second time in two weeks.   Capturing the Woodbridge Summer Sizzle tournament trophy on July 12th has put the Tiger girls in the record books for the league.

The Summer Sizzle Tournament, hosted by Woodbridge, was a battle of the best in central Jersey.   For South Plainfield, it was two days of tough competition that place the Tigers in the 4th seed for Sunday’s single elimination day.

Yet, under the blistering sun and intense heat, the Tiger’s stood strong, knocking out East Windsor fast in the quarterfinals.  Competition heated up next in the semi-finals, with an intense game facing top-seed Ewing. But, the Tiger’s scored first and continued to outperform, ripping the confidence away from Ewing Edge and sending them south much earlier than they anticipated.

The final game began late in the afternoon against the home team, Woodbridge Wildcats.  It was under the blazing sun, that the Tiger Girls displayed their intense stamina and fierce mental capacity.  The girls played their hearts out, refusing to lose for six innings – swinging for the fences and even diving on fast grounders to make quick stops.   Ace pitcher’s Tori Ferguson and Grace Colucci remained focused despite aggressive unnerving attempts by the Wildcats.  It was a passionate battle into the last inning with South Plainfield winning 11-6, proving once again that the 10U Tigers are unstoppable.
