CRANFORD, NJ – The South Plainfield 10U Tigers placed second in the Cranford 10U softball tournament over the weekend. The Colonia 10U girls were able to outlast the Tigers in the championship game, 10-7.
Earlier on Sunday, South Plainfield defeated the Metuchen 10U girls, 6-0, to advance to the championship game. In this game Tiger hurler Cameron Marks threw a two-hit, 12-strikeout complete game for the victory. The Tigers received stellar defense from Kirsten Culver and Olivia Olano to help preserve the shutout. Timely hits from Caitlyn Barbara, Shailynn Martinez and Rachel Eggert helped lead the Tigers on offense.
In the championship game, Danielle DeCarlo and Marks put up a valiant effort on the mound. Marks, Kristyn Smith and Culver provided both offensive and defensive support for the Tigers. In the end, Colonia was able to outlast the Tigers to win the championship.
