Tigers were down 1-0 going into bottom 4.  Daniel Kapsch started the inning with a base hit, followed by Dominic Massaro reaching base. The team won the 8U District 9 tournament in 2016, 9U District 9 tournament in 2017, and now the 10u District 9.

Next, the Tigers will embark on their quest for their third straight Northern New Jersey state tournament crown as well. They begin Pool B play against North Hunterdon on Thursday night (July 5) at 6:00 p.m. South Plainfield then plays Mountainside on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and then Long Hill at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Should the Tigers earn a good enough record to move on, the semifinals will take place on Monday. The final game is scheduled for Tuesday.

Pool A has teams from Millburn-Short Hills, Hillsborough, Marlboro, and Union City.

Every state tournament game will take place at Mountain View Park in Hillsborough. South Plainfield is the only returning team from last year.

This year, South Plainfield has the honor of hosting the 10U Middle Atlantic Regional Tournament starting on Thursday, July 19. And because the Tigers are hosting, even if they don’t win the the outright Northern New Jersey state title, they will still play in the regional tournament. It’s a win-win. They will be playing in Pool A with winners from Maryland, Northwest Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern Eastern New York.

Pool B will consist of the champions from Northern East New York, Western New York, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and the winner or second place team from Northern New Jersey.

Stay tuned to TAPinto South Plainfield as we update you on the Tigers’ tournament run.
