SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club (SPARC), will be holding its meetings at the CERT/RACES Building (AKA, South Plainfield Community Policing building) located at the corner of Hamilton Blvd. & New Market Ave. This new meeting location has been provided by OEM to eliminate conflicting use of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) building. SPARC, whose members are CERT qualified and/or RACES members, while independent, operate under the auspices of OEM when called to perform emergency communication services or other Public Services as needed. CERT/RACES are acronyms for: Community Emergency Response Team and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (see www.usraces.org). South Plainfield OEM works closely with Middlesex County and State agencies.
SPARC’S general meeting is held at 7 PM, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Anyone interested in taking part in CERT/RACES activities are invited to attend for further information. Numerous training classes are available and usually require advance registration and listed under “Current Events” in the South Plainfield OBSERVER and/or TAP.
