SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Community Pool has been the place for fun in the sun for generations of South Plainfield residents. Clear water, tether ball and the large slide are all as popular as ever. This year, however, the most popular place to be at the pool is in the shade.
The Borough installed two large fixed shade structures last week and they have been enormously popular. “I thought the pool could really use a shade structure,” said South Plainfield Councilwoman Christine Faustini. “I have been a pool member for years and my four children loved the pool, but I always felt it would be nice to have some shade.”
One shade structure is located in the baby pool area and the other one is located near the four foot area on the parking lot side of the Community Pool.
“We love these shade things,” said one South Plainfield resident. “It was great getting here early and getting a spot in the shade.” Another patron had the same thought. “I do not live in South Plainfield, but come here with my sister and we bring the kids.” “These new shade structures are great. The kids can play in the pool and we can get out of the hot sun.”
The shade structures were purchased from General Recreation and installed at a cost of $5,430.00 each.
