SAYREVILLE, NJ – The South Plainfield Tigers shook off Tuesday’s loss against Metuchen and went on to rout Sayreville, 9-2, in Sayreville yesterday. The victory allowed South Plainfield to capture the number one seed in the Greater Middlesex County Tournament. Shannon Hughes led the Tiger offensive juggernaut scoring two goals and registering five assists. Charlotte Macchia and Holly DeLair also contributed two goals apiece for the Tigers.
South Plainfield’s Jess Bishop, Meghan Hughes and Gina Milan each added a goal in the winning effort. The victory brings South Plainfield’s record to 14-2.
The Greater Middlesex County Tournament begins tomorrow. South Plainfield will be hosting Piscataway tomorrow at 4 p.m.
