SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – At 3:31 a.m. Jan. 12, the South Plainfield Fire Department, under the command of Chief Tom Scalera, responded to a call of a reported fire at Ames Advanced Materials Corp. located at 3900 South Clinton Avenue.

Arriving units located and found a rooftop dust collector on fire on the Wade Avenue side of the complex, which had been evacuated before fire personnel arrived at the scene. Engine 5 was directed to Wade Avenue and stretched up the exterior staircase to the roof to place their line in operation. Truck 7 was detailed to overhaul and search operations. Engine 4 was the fast team.

South Plainfield EMS, Police and the Middlesex County Haz-Mat were also on the scene and one engine from Plainfield Fire was relocated to South Plainfield Fire Department headquarters for coverage. There were no injuries reported.
