SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. - The South Plainfield High School girls varsity basketball team lost 60-40 against Bishop Ahr Tuesday night.
Bishop Ahr (12-5) connected on nine 3-pointers on the night, including five by Lauren Barlow who finished with a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds.
Jenna Harsh also finished in double figures for the Trojans chipping in with 16 points to help Bishop Ahr jump out to a 32-22 halftime lead.
After South Plainfield (7-10) won the third quarter 11-10, the Trojans pulled away for good in the fourth outscoring the Lady Tigers 18-7.
Sarah Cargill is clearly a step above her Tiger teammates, as she poured in more than half her team’s points with 23 on the night. After the loss against Sayreville on Saturday, head coach Kevin Hughes told me she “just doesn’t stop” and despite the blowout, she still was effective. The senior also brought down four rebounds, dished out two assists, had one block, and three steals.
For the season, Cargill has made 97 field goals. Next closest is Caity Hughes with 51.
South Plainfield has now lost two straight and will look to rebound at Colonia on Thursday.
