SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield High School (SPHS) "Family and Consumer Science" class hosted a “Restaurant Wars” competition. SPHS’ Donna Schneider hosted this first ever "Restaurant Wars" with her students.
The students chose what type of dinner they would prepare from scratch and present it to the judges. Each group of students presented their dinner on a platter for the judges to view at the beginning of the "war", so that the judges could evaluate the presentation on the texture, consistency of the food and the taste appeal. The students had to explain each ingredient that was used in creating their masterpiece.
The judges tallied their scores and add them together to determine the winner from each of the four presentations. The judges for the 5th period class were: South Plainfield High School Vice Principal Mrs. Kelly Richkus; English Teacher Mrs. Christina Briskin and South Plainfield Board of Education President Debbie Boyle. The judges chose the fifth period class winners as follows: Dung Tran, Chris Cieszkiewicz, Moreen Njoroge and Olivia George with their creation of Potato Salad with Chicken Cordon Bleu.
The students and judges enjoyed participating in the “Restaurant Wars” from both the beginning to the delicious end.
