SOUTH PLAINFELD, NJ – South Plainfield has hired a new face to the Borough Police Department. The new officer may be a new face, but he is an old voice to many of the police officers. The Borough Council approved the transfer of Christopher Blath from the Kean University Police Department to the South Plainfield Police Department. Blath’s transfer was effective immediately. Blath previously was a telecommunications operator in the South Plainfield 911 Center.
Blath, a Piscataway resident, was a South Plainfield Police Dispatcher back in 2007. He left the Borough to take a position at Kean University. Blath became a Kean University Police Officer back in 2012.
“I can’t wait to get started,” said Police Officer Blath. “I’m just really excited to be here.”
“You have joined the right Police Departments,” said South Plainfield Mayor Matthew Anesh. “There are a number of great Superior Officers to learn from, and we have the best police chief in the State of New Jersey in Chief Parker. I have a brother in-law on the force, and my sister is a State Trooper. Police work is a great profession. Rely on your fellow officers, but if there is ever anything you or the police department needs, never hesitate in coming to me or any other member of the Governing Body.”
As a police transfer, officer Blath will be on the road soon. He has already gone through the police academy and will be on patrol on his own in the near future.
