The Borough of South Plainfield in partnership with American Legion Chaumont Post 243, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6763 and Elks Lodge 2298 announce Phase II of its Hometown Heroes program. Phase I was recently completed with the organization honoring those South Plainfield veterans killed in action. Banners honoring the fallen have been displayed on the lampposts along Plainfield Ave in front of Borough Hall.

The program is being expanded to include all South Plainfield Veterans and will be limited to the first 100 applicants. An individual is eligible to participate if they have honorably served in one of the following branches of the United States Armed Forces - Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines (WWII) or Women Air Force Service Pilots (WWII) and have been a South Plainfield resident any time in the past or present.  In 2020, banners will be displayed from Memorial Day thru Veteran's Day on the lampposts in the center of town and along Hamilton Boulevard. The cost to sponsor a South Plainfield Veteran is $85 and includes an 8x10 framed print of your banner. Deadline to apply is February 28, 2020
