NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – South Plainfield Lady Tigers opened the 2017 season doing what it took to win. The Tigers received solid a solid pitching performance from senior hurler Katherine Vill, and pieced together a three run sixth inning rally to defeat North Brunswick 4-0.

Vill started her final high school campaign on the mound with a gem, striking out nine while scattering just two hits and two walks over seven complete innings of work. The Tiger bats, however, took a while to get going.

South Plainfield Senior shortstop Caity Hughes got things going in the first inning by singling, and then scoring on a hit by Jill Hololboski. South Plainfield’s bats then went dormant until the sixth inning. Angela Sanchez and Makayla Sosa both singled in the top of the sixth inning for the Tigers. A triple by Hughes plated both Sanchez and Sosa. Holoboski rounded out the scoring for South Plainfield recording her second RBI of the day by knocking in Hughes with a Sac fly.
