SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – There were no reports of black bears this Father’s Day, but there was a more familiar canine observed on Metuchen Road. A TAP reporter observed an adult coyote on the railroad tracks near Belmont Avenue and snapped this photo. The coyote was walking the tracks around 10 a.m. just as the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Father’s Day Classic got into full swing.
Coyotes have become frequent visitors to neighborhoods throughout town, but it was a bit unusual seeing this coyote during the day said Michael Flynn. The coyote walked nearly the full length of the tracks from Sherban’s and eventually ran into deeper thicket just before the Belmont Avenue crossing.
