This touchdown put South Plainfield up 7-0 after only 41 seconds had elapsed into the game.

Woodbridge knotted the game at 7-7 when Percy Martin hauled in a 34 yard pass.  On the ensuing drive Jason Lee of South Plainfield fumbled at South Plainfield’s 15 yard line.  The fumble led to a one yard touchdown plunge by Zahneer Shuler.  The touchdown put Woodbridge up 14-7 with 4:38 left in the first quarter.

After taking over on downs, Moroney linked up with Kyle Dickerson for an 80 yard score.  The touchdown and missed extra point put the score at 14-13 Woodbridge with 11:00 minutes left in the 1st half.

On the ensuing drive Woodbridge drove to South Plainfield’s 31 yard line.  Johnny Chillemi made a huge tackle in the backfield, of Woodbridge, on a 4th down and one play to give the ball back to South Plainfield on South Plainfield’s own 35 yard line.  On the very next play Roemello Monroe busted off a 65 yard touchdown run to put South Plainfield up 19-14.  South Plainfield would keep the lead for good.

Woodbridge late in the second quarter would once again drive deep into Tiger territory.  South Plainfield’s Jared Agee would both strip the ball and recover the fumble at South Plainfield’s 20 yard line.  The fumble recovery occurred with just 34 seconds left in the half.  Coach Cassio and the Tigers were not content going into half with just a five point lead.  With just 34 seconds left Moroney hit wide receiver Trey Martinez on a 60 yard pass play.  The pass brought South Plainfield down to Woodbridge’s 20 yard line.  Two plays later Moroney would connect once again with Kyle Dickerson for a three yard touchdown pass.

South Plainfield went 80 yards in just 25 seconds to take a 27-14 halftime lead.

After a slow start to the third quarter, once again South Plainfield’s Jared Agee made a big defensive play.  Agee intercepted a pass and returned it to Woodbridge’s 40 yard line.  Agee had this to say after the game:

Three plays later from Woodbridge’s 19 yard line Moroney would connect for his fourth touchdown pass of the night to Trey Martinez.

With 9:37 left in the game Woodbridge would get back on the board with a 28 yard touchdown run bringing the score to 34-21.  Woodbridge, however, would get no closer.  Moroney once again would connect on a long 53 yard pass play to Martinez.  That play would set up Roemello Monroe for an eight yard touchdown run.  It would be Monroe’s second rushing touchdown of the game.  The touchdown put South Plainfield up 40-21.

The victory improves South Plainfield’s record to 3-0.  Coach Cassio said “the boys played well.  We had a lot of balance on offense, but we need to get ready for Bishop Ahr.  The goal is to go 1-0 each week.”
