The South Plainfield Police Department is accepting applications for Per-Diem Police Dispatcher.  The following are the minimum requirements for applicants:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Must have a High School diploma or GED
  3. Must be certified in 9-1-1, EMD and CPR
  4. Must pass a background check and a computerized Dispatch test
  5. Must be able to multi-task while using Police, Fire, and EMS Radios, telephones, and computers
  6. Must be able to work on an as needed basis to fill vacant shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  7. Prior experience in Emergency Dispatching preferred but not required
  8. Prior Knowledge of NCIC, CJIS, and AOC preferred but not required

The current Per-Diem Dispatcher hourly rate is $20.77 while in training, once training is completed it will be $29.07 per/hr.  Applicants can pick up an application at the South Plainfield Police Department Dispatch window or go to the Borough of South Plainfield web page   click on Police Tab then forms and print the Communications Operator Application.
