SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Saturday, August 20th at 1pm, the South Plainfield Public Library welcomes Dr. Michael Norris of Armchair Art Tours and former museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Pastor and painter Vincent van Gogh produced more than 2,000 works of art in his last decade. Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo that, as he had no children, he viewed his paintings as his progeny.  In Go van Gogh, a multi-media presentation, Dr. Norris will highlight the art of Vincent van Gogh by exploring some of his “brilliant children,” especially those at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Come celebrate van Gogh and view his amazing artwork with Dr. Norris and the South Plainfield Public Library!

Norris got his BA in classics from the University of California at San Diego and his MA in classics and Ph.D. in art history at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He spent twenty years at the Cloisters Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and has lectured on trips all over the world. He lives in Teaneck, New Jersey. This program is presented free, but registration is required.  Please register by calling the South Plainfield Public Library at 908-754-7885 or stop by.
