SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Omar Perkins, 23, of Astor Street has been arrested on heroin distribution and gun charges, according to South Plainfield police.

The South Plainfield Police Department, Plainfield Police Division Narcotics Unit and New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit executed a Court Ordered Search Warrant at 1420 Astor Place in South Plainfield last Friday.

As a result of the search, detectives located a loaded Hi-Point 9mm handgun, and a large quantity of heroin. The heroin is estimated to have a street value of approximately $50,000. Perkins a resident of that address and alleged G-Shine Bloods Gang Member, was arrested at the scene.

Perkins was charged with Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons, Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) with Intent to Distribute, Possession of CDS, Possession of Weapon during Drug Distribution Scheme, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia. Perkins is currently being held at the Middlesex County Jail.
