SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -  Thomas Berry of South Plainfield has recently published his latest historical novel, Fire and Ash, the last installment in the Gifts of the Gods trilogy on Ancient Greece.  The novel follows the lives of five men and women during the last decade of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta in the 5th century BC.   Berry’s first two volumes, Iron and Bronze and Silver and Gold were both awarded ‘Book of the Year’ for 2018 and 2019 respectively by the popular international review site, the Coffee Pot Book Club based in London.
“The Gifts of the Gods trilogy combines intriguing historical content with a down-to-earth human connection so often lost in textbooks,” Berry said.  “Yet we continue to find new parallels with our modern society such as the rise of democracy and socialism that had its origins in Athens and Sparta.  What we lived through in the 20th century - the wold wars and Vietnam, and all the problems inherent in our political systems - they experienced it all 2500 years before us!  If we listen closely to the past, we can shape a better future for us all.”  This latest novel marks Berrys’ sixth publication since 2010.  You can find out more about his historical novels at
