SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Tigers are streaking. After dropping their first game of the season South Plainfield has gone 4-0-1. The latest win was a hard fought 2-1 victory over GMC rival Spotswood.

South Plainfield appeared to be cruising towards their fourth win of the year on goals by Marc Giordano and Jose Galdamez when Spotswood’s Yanni Hatzistefanis scored on a free kick with just three minutes left in the game. Hatzistefanis’ goal closed the score to 2-1, but South Plainfield held on for the win.

“At the end we had a fight on our hands,” said South Plainfield Coach Anthony Perfilio. “We played too well today for this to happen. We are playing well, but just need to finish.”

Perfilio is right. The Tigers dominated much of the play and outshot Spotswood 12-4. Spotswood’s Andrew Bishara played well in goal turning away 10 Tiger shots on goal.

The Tigers next play South River.
