PLAINSBORO, NJ- Several South Plainfield Middle School students participated in the Central Jersey Music Educators’ Association Region II Intermediate Band and Orchestra Auditions on January 30, 2016 at Community Middle School in Plainsboro, New Jersey. There were approximately 800 band and orchestra students from Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset, and Union counties. The students had to learn a solo, memorize eight scales, and perform some sight reading. The students were competing for an opportunity to perform with the Region II Concert Band or Orchestra. Additionally, there is a percussion ensemble to ensure that percussion students have an equitable opportunity to perform. The Region Band rehearses in various places throughout central New Jersey to perform in this concert.
This year, two South Plainfield students were selected for these ensembles. Sara Dabul was accepted into the Symphonic Band on trumpet, and Joseph Anesh was accepted into the Percussion Ensemble. The concert for the band will be on Sunday, March 6 at Stienert High School in Hamilton and the Percussion Ensemble concert will be Sunday, March 13 at Monroe Township High School in Monroe. Mr. Veiss, and the middle school community is very proud of the accomplishments of all the students who auditioned!
