SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Tigers Softball Team won their second consecutive game of the season defeating Dunellen 10-0. South Plainfield Junior Holly DeLair recorded her first varsity victory limiting Dunellen to just two hits over five innings. The game ended after five innings due to the 10 run rule.
South Plainfield got on the board immediately scoring five runs in the bottom half of the first. DeLair, Kaitlin Hughes and Caity Hughes all had RBI singles in the first inning. The Tigers would pound out thirteen hits over five innings, with Senior Haley Hlavka ending the game with a two run double in the fifth. That double would knock in the 9th and 10th runs of the game.
The victory improves South Plainfield’s record to 2-0 on the season, and Dunellen drops to 0-2. The Tigers are scheduled to play away on Friday at Monroe.
